Art Therapy can be an effective modality for adults who may struggle to verbally articulate their experience. It can help for instance with someone who feels anxious, has depressive moods, and may struggle with stress.
During art therapy for adults, we look to guide people to express how you feel through visual art. This can feel safer and soothing as you select, explore and express with materials that sum up your experience. During an art therapy session, the person works with an art therapist to help the person express difficult feelings that are hard to put into words.
This can help people to gain self-awareness, without the pressure of relating to another person, with the creative space being a bridge where you can shape and share your feelings to others. Reflecting on one’s artwork verbally with the art therapist can also help a person process their experiences.
Therapy sessions take place in the Bournemouth and Christchurch area. Contact Mindscape for more details.
