Providing Support for People with ASD with Emotional Wellbeing

Recently I have been undertaking research into how different psychological therapies can support people with ASD with their emotional wellbeing. As in the past, this has been overlooked, as there has been more of an emphasis on using behavioral modification approaches and undertaking research examing the ‘deficits’ of people with ASD.

I have been investigating how psychological therapies such as art therapy can support people with ASD and learning disabilities with their emotional wellbeing. I will be discussing more about this in forthcoming blogs so watch this space.

Here is some information about the National Autistic Society’s Not Enough campaign to demand better support and services for autistic people and their families across the country. As it highlights that people with ASD in the UK are often misunderstood by professionals and many are developing preventable mental health difficulties as they do not have access to the support that is needed.
